Kayleigh Nelson, MA, LAC, LPCC
Individual and Family Counselor
I hold a BS in Psychology and a Master of Clinical Mental Health Counseling. As a Licensed Addiciton Counselor, I have been counseling in the substance use field for more than 6 years as well as working in schools with children and families for the last 3 years. I focused my training in Dialectical Behavioral, Cognitive Behavioral, and Moral Recognition Therapies. I have experience treating adolescents and adults with mental health and substance use disorders in outpatient and inpatient settings. My counseling style follows mainly an existential and holistic approach- I encourage clients to be authentic and find meaning in their lives, as well as see themselves as a whole being of mind, body, and spirit. I encourage clients to accept themselves and where they are at while challenging them to reach their goals. My hope is to create a safe place where clients feel heard, respected, and validated in the experiences and goals. I look forward to our time together!

Hello! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate and a School Counselor with 20 years of experience working with children and families in the school setting. I have a passion for learning the unique characteristics of people's cultures and personalities, taking a non-judgemental approach to counseling and therapy. I offer a unique perspective from my own background in helping children traverse school issues and build self esteem. I also work with families to improve dynamics and communication to improve behavioral difficulties. I also have three grown children and have experience working with change-of-life adjustment. My client-centered approach tends to work best with clients needing a safe environment to open themselves to healthy change. I look forward to meeting and learning about you!

Welcome! My therapeutic approach is person centered, non-judgmental and centered on trust and reciprocity. I work well with individuals who are struggling with addiction, anxiety, grief and loss, and negative core beliefs. I am open minded and use my compassion and life experiences to help guide individuals to new hope and greater opportunities. I also believe in a humanistic approach to therapy that honors an individual’s culture, spiritual diversity, and values while incorporating several techniques such as CBT, DBT, trauma informed care, and ACT. For my education and experience, I earned a Master’s Degree in Addictions Counseling in 2019 and became a Licensed Addictions Counselor (LAC) in 2021. I am certified in Moral Reconation Therapy and Trauma Informed Care (Breaking the Chains) and trained in providing Level I and Level II Education and Therapy for DUI clients. I am currently working towards a licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I have worked in harm reduction with Colorado Treatment Services for over five years with prior experience in detox facilities.
